What is carpal boss?
Carpal boss is a growth of extra bone on the back of the hand. It often results in a visible, hard swelling that can be confused with a ganglion. Most of the time it doesn’t cause pain or discomfort. Sometimes clicking or sliding of tendons over the bony lump can cause discomfort.
Treatment of Carpal Boss
Carpal boss does not necessarily need to be treated. Surgery can be considered to remove the extra bone and allow for the tendons to glide freely again.
